CommentMass Effect 2 Getting First Paid DLC “Kasumi’s Stolen Memory” 4/6
Posted in News by Jim Plachy (5 hours ago)
Even though not all of Mass Effect 2’s free DLC is out yet, BioWare has announced it’s first round of paid DLC. It’s called Kasumi’s Stolen Memory and will add Kasumi as a squad member, an achievement for completing the mission, a loyalty mission that earns you flash bang grenades, and gets you the “Locust” SMG. The mission should take about 90 minutes to complete AND can even be played AFTER a playthrough of Mass Effect 2. Take that, Mass Effect 1 DLC! Pricing has yet to be determined, but I personally would pay up to 800 space bucks for it.
Via Joystiq who will have impression’s of the DLC up later.
CommentNew Dragon Age Something Or Other Due 2/1/11
Posted in News by Jim Plachy (5 hours ago)
Well, would you look at that, an early copy of Dragon Age: Origins: Awakening shows an insert for Dragon Age something or other being available on February 1st 2011. During the last EA Investor call a new Dragon Age was mentioned as coming out around this time frame, but nothing concrete was said. So is this Dragon Age 2, another expansion, or something completely different? It’s probably Dragon Age 2, but it wont be called that. It will be Dragon Age Colon Something.

CommentNew Red Faction Game Due Out March 2011
Posted in News by Jim Plachy (10 hours ago)
Over at the GDC’s Joystiq interviewed THQ VP of Core Games Danny Bilson to spill the beans on the new Red Faction game. Mr. Bilson confirmed that the game would be out in March of 2011. He says that this game takes Red Faction back to it’s roots, with 80% of it taking place underground. The game is also far more structured than Red Faction Guerrilla, and is much more narrative than the previous game. The destructibility also has the potential to be much more impressive since the underground cities are much closer together. To read the full details hit up Joystiq’s interview here.
CommentGreen Day Rock Band In Store 6/8
Posted in News by Jim Plachy (10 hours ago)
Excited about Rock Band 3 this holiday, but want to get your new Rock Band fix, earlier? Well, you are in luck, especially if you’re a Green Day fan. Green Day Rock Band will be a standalone disc, so sorry, no replica Billie Joe guitar. The game will feature 47 tracks by the band, and will support The Beatles Rock Band’s three part harmonies. However in an interesting very Green Day twist, you can only have one guitar player. What I find interesting about that, is that most newer Green Day songs have added a second guitar, in fact the band plays live with a second guitar player.
The tracks are all exportable to your hard drive for a fee of $9.99, but there appear to be a wide range of ways to get that fee waived. The first is to pre order the game from GameStop, the second is to buy the special edition Green Day Rock Band Plus which comes with the voucher as well as all the Green Day DLC that has been previously released and special packaging. Speaking of DLC, if you already own Green Day tracks you will be able to play them in Green Day Rock Band and the game will add three part harmonies. We’ve added a trailer for the game above, it comes from Joystiq who have slightly more info including exclusive Green Day videos you can unlock by playing the game.

CommentSony Unveils Playstation Move
Posted in News by Jim Plachy (1 day ago)
Sony has just unveiled their motion controller at their GDC Press Conference. It’s called Playstation Move.
Sony thinks that Wii owners to Playstation Move owners is a natural progression.
Available this Fall. Stand alone controllers available, Playstation Move starter Kit includes, Playstation Eye, Move controller and game. Playstation Move ultimate kit includes all of that plus a Playstation 3. Exact pricing information coming “later”, expect the starter kit to be under $99.
The lag between controller and game is less than 1 frame. The gladiator game that was shown at E3 last year is part of a game called Sports Champions. The game uses two controllers at once. Left hand holds a shield and the right holds the weapon.
Another game in sports champions is ping pong.
Little Big Planet will use Playstation Move to move around objects when creating a level. New pieces can be controlled with the Playstation Move and can be used to navigate levels. For example Sackboy can jump on a platform that’s over fire, but there is no way to get over to the other platform. Another player can move the platform over to the other side to keep Sackboy alive. It seems very New Super Mario Bros. Wii, because the Playstation Move player can be malicious.
EyePet was in fact delayed to become a Playstation Move title.
Motion Fighters is a 1v1 street fighting game. You really have to punch for your character to punch in the game. The person demoing the game literally twirled around and held his arm out and the game duplicated that action.
SOCOM 4 uses Playstation Move, but you need the Playstation Move Sub Controller. The Sub Controller has an analog nub to control games like first person shooters. Think, Wii Nunchuck but wireless. The person demoing it is using the main controller to aim the gun, and the sub controller to move the camera.
Playstation Move and Non-Playstation Move versions of games will be on one disc.

Still own your copy of Resident Evil 5? Didn’t buy any of the DLC yet? Well you are in luck, because it’s all available now in one bundle. For $12.50 or 960 MS points which is a savings of $1.50 over buying them separately you can own both episodes and both costume packs. If you don’t own a copy of Resident Evil 5, don’t forget that the Gold Edition of the game featuring all of the DLC plus the main game is in stores now.
CommentBelieve It Or Not, OnLive Launches 6/17
Posted in News by Jim Plachy (1 day ago)
Controversial and potentially game changing streaming video game service OnLive is set to launch on PC and Mac June 17th. The service will cost $14.95 a month on top of rental or purchase fees for each game played. The first 25,000 people to register for the service will not have to pay the monthly fee for the first 3 months. The “micro-console” which will stream games to your HDTV will be launching later this year. Look for a public demo of the service at this year’s E3. You can find out more and pre register here.
CommentYou Think This Is A Game?
Posted in Pixelosophy by Alex (1 day ago)
An ongoing discussion between Aaron and I has been over calling video games games. While this won’t be that article, it was the inspiration for it. Going into a video game with the idea of beating it and accomplishing everything is pretty much par for the course for every gamer. However, games are changing. What [...]
