The last four days have been pretty crazy, huh? Just me? Well by now if you are a regular visitor to this website you know that we posted concept art from an unannounced Tomb Raider game. We went to sleep that night, and woke up to 10 tons of crazy. For those not “in the know” we’re just a bunch of gamers who have decided that we don’t want to work 9-5s, and could spend all day every day playing and discussing video games. It’s a passion that runs deep for us. Four Player Co Op launched about six weeks ago and we’ve had a hit with our Pixelsophy video podcast, but our daily hits to the site have been modest. As we discussed on the latest episode of Bullshot! it took friends calling me and texting me to even tip me off that something had happened that morning.
I logged into the site that tells us how many hits we have had to the site, and we were up to 10,000. I called Chris, and let him know what was up. We were all pretty blown away and couldn’t believe we had “broken” this story. We kind of figured we would get mentioned on Kotaku, Joystiq, and all the usual suspects, and that would be the end of our sudden wave of popularity. On Sunday the story kept popping up and we had broke 50,000 hits to the site in a day. Nothing was making sense. We had barely been a blip on the radar 24 hours earlier.
On Monday it just kept going, IGN and G4 had picked up the story, and we even appeared in “The Feed” during Monday’s episode of Xplay. It’s Tuesday and as the story finally seems to be fading away we have some difficult things to think about. Internet Fame is fleeting, and we’re just a bunch of saps who got lucky. How do we keep you coming back to the site? Well I suggest you check out our podcasts, especially Pixelosophy and Bullshot!. We also launched our forums and we would love for you to come discuss video games and the site with us. Of course we will always post as much video game news as possible, and try to blog as much as time allows.
If you are reading this cause you have been with us since day 1, or because you saw that we had Tomb Raider concept art thank you from the bottom of all of our hearts. We thought it would be a long time before we got to the place we got to this past weekend.
