I Love Competitive Multiplayer

It’s true, I have been playing Halo 3 like crazy all week. Hours in the Lone Wolves playlist, where it’s just you versus five other players. I love the feeling of competing in a video game, even if I’m not that great at it. Call of Duty 4, I love team deathmatch, same with Gears of War 2. I’m not even that big of a fan of objective based multiplayer games, I just like getting in a team and killing the other team as much as possible. The footage of Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer that came out this week was cool, but I was a little disappointed that they added capture the flag, I don’t want to play capture the flag. The problem is, my friends will.

The people I game with are huge cooperative multiplayer gaming fans. Horde mode in Gears of War 2 is what we play most often when we get together on Live. When we do finally play some Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3 it’s objective based games like headquarters we play most often. I find that kind of gameplay boring. I prefer the thrill of kill or be killed. When I play CoD 4 by myself it’s always Mercenary Team Deathmatch. Will I ever convince my gaming friends that the most fun is hunting down and killing another team of players without worrying about who has the bomb?

One game that has helped me enjoy objective games more is Killzone 2. Killzone mixes objective game types with deathmatch. A match of Killzone 2 cycles through all five game modes. It’s a lot of fun, and breaks up the monotony of playing one game type for hours on end. Cause while I do love Halo 3 I can only tolerate about an hour of it before I have to take a break. Whereas I have had much longer sessions of Killzone 2.

I like the Horde mode in Gears 2, and I’m sure I’m going to love Firefight in ODST, but 50 waves of Horde mode can be painfully dull after 30 or so waves of enemies. So, is there anyone out there who loves killing people(virtually)as much as I do?? Send me an email, or hit up the forums and let’s start some teams! You name the game and I’ll meet you there. Let’s represent Four Player Co Op on the fields of battle!
