Valve unwrapped a new competitive mode for L4D 2, it’s a much quicker experience than versus mode, it’s called scavenge. In Scavenge four survivors have to collect gas cans on a small map, and bring them back to a generator, so what I assume would be to keep the lights on. The survivors have two minutes to collect all 16 cans on the map, with 20 seconds being added to the clock for each gas can added to the generator. Sounds easy, right? You are wrong, because the other team is controlling special infected, and will do their best to prevent you from claiming those precious gas cans.
Scavenge mode is played in three best two out of three rounds with teams switching sides at “half time”. There will be six scavenge maps included with the game, representing locations from the campaign. Left 4 Dead 2 hits stores on November 17th.
