Sick of Modern Warfare 2 yet? We’re not! Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling and Joel Emslie just wrapped up a live Q and A sponsored by Monster Energy, with whom they are currently running a promotion with. In fact to get in, you had to have participated in that promotion. Now if you are following the leaks(which I’m trying not to)you might know most if not all of this stuff, but for those who like to get their info from official sources, here we go.
Of note was the “accidental” mention of EMP rounds which apparently will turn off any tech being used by fellow players. This includes things like night and thermal vision. They showed off a new map called Highrise which has parkour elements. There is scaffolding surrounding the top of an unfinished highrise which with a little work you can get to a very high height. Perfect spots for the snipers out there. There’s a perk called tactical insertion that lets you throw down a flare and if you are killed you will respawn at the flare. New to Modern Warfare 2 is the addition of sentry guns that can be set up by players, these guns can be one hit melee killed, so keep them out of harms way. Care package is a kill streak reward that you can get after you get 4 kills. You throw a smoke grenade and a box is dropped off and in the box is a random kill streak reward. Bowling and Emslie pointed out that the care package box has physics of it’s own so be careful where you pop the smoke because the box can fall off of ledges, and don’t even think about throwing it indoors as the package will just end up on the roof of the building where you popped the smoke.
