Those Call of Duty MMO rumors are getting HOT again. This time Destructoid is saying that Infinity Ward has hired a bunch of people on from Sony Online Entertainment, including the lead designer on Everquest II. On top of that, some Blizzard employees have been lending a hand to help them get the MMO off the ground. Destructoid makes things even more crazy by suggesting that because of this MMO, Infinity Ward wont be making Modern Warfare 3. Then they make the bold proclamation that this MMO might not even be Call of Duty related. These are some pretty bold claims, and while I think we can all agree that a Call of Duty MMO is in the works, I just can’t see this as being the way it’s getting done.
Personally, I still think Blizzard is making it, but the more I think about it, Blizzard/Activision is such a huge company they could easily swap people in and out, and slap a new studio name on it. We would never know. It would be pretty interesting to see Infinity Ward become an MMO studio though. For now were going to have to wait it out until we get some concrete details. In the meantime, speculate!
