You want firm details on Day 1 DLC for Mass Effect 2? Alright, here they are. That guy in the picture, he is a rugged bounty hunter named Zaeed. How does Mr. Zaeed join your party? Well, you have to visit the Cerberus Network. The Cerberus Network appears after you enter a one time use code that’s included in the box with new copies of Mass Effect 2.

From the Cerberus Network you can not only purchase and obtain new content, but you will get daily messages as well as news on upcoming DLC. Honestly, it kind of sounds like Mass Effect: Waypoint. There are hints in the press release that you will also get to “delve deeper into the lore of Mass Effect”.

The Launch day DLC will be new missions that involve Zaeed. Shortly after launch there will be another DLC pack that includes the Hammerhead, “a new vehicle in the Mass Effect universe. This agile hover tank features improved handling on rough terrain and maneuvers deftly in combat — a necessity for players traveling across harsh planetary environments throughout the galaxy”. On top of that they will release the Cerberus Boost armor and the M-22 Eviscerator Shotgun. No word on if the DLC that includes the Hammerhead will cost any Microsoft or BioWare points.

So there we go, now we all know how DLC will work in Mass Effect 2, the game is in stores next week.
