Activision Creates Call Of Duty Business Unit

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Posted in News by Jim Plachy

A couple of years ago Activision and Vivendi merged to form Activision Blizzard. Blizzard operates as their own business unit separately from Activision, but still contributing to Activision’s bottom line. With today’s shakeup at Infinity Ward and the multitude of Call of Duty announcements comes the news that Activision has started a Call of Duty business unit which is headed up by the former head of the Asian-Pacific region for Activision Phillip Earl. This will allow Activision to control the Call of Duty franchise, it’s spin-offs, and marketing opportunities under one office. It will be interesting to see just how much Call of Duty we see and how fast. The potential for multiple titles in one year is now a very real opportunity. Also, will the cereal stay crunchy in milk? Stay tuned!
