Yesterday for no apparent reason Valve decided to patch Portal, 2007′s mind bending first-person shooter puzzler. The only patch note was “Changed radio transmission frequency to comply with federal and state spectrum management regulations”. When players got into the game they noticed that the radio in the first room of the game was different. The light on the radio was now green. Players discovered that when they carried the radio to the right place in each level they were greeted with some blaring radio squelching and Morse code. The Steam forums united and activated their wonder twin powers to discover that the Morse code was describing something like GLaDOS rebooting. The radio squelching revealed the 26 images you see in this post. THAT lead players to an old fashioned BBS which was littered with memos from Cave Johnson the founder of Aperture Science.
With GDC just around the corner and Gabe Newell to be presented with an award of some kind we can only assume we are staring a Portal 2 announcement in the face. If you want to join in on the fun, your best bet is the Steam Community. You can get caught up here and join in on the guessing here.
