Rejoice Mac users! Steam is indeed coming to the Mac. The service will go live this April and will include all of Valve’s hit titles, including Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, Half Life 2 and all it’s episodes, and of course Portal. The service will work almost exactly as it does on the PC, with one interesting twist. A new feature called Steam Play. If you buy a game on the Mac, you also have it on the PC, and vice versa. Thanks to the Steam Cloud which saves your settings and game saves to “the cloud” you can start up a game of Portal on your home PC and then finish it on the airplane on your MacBook without losing your progress. No third party support has been announced yet, but with Apple taking an increasing market share in home computing we don’t see why publishers wouldn’t want to jump on board.
