Bungie has announced that all new IP that they produce will be published and distributed by Activision. The first game in this 10 year partnership will be the long whispered about Jason Jones project. A game that has been supposedly in the works since Jones stopped working on Halo 2 some time during it’s development. If you are wondering about whether or not this means Bungie will become a multi-platform studio, you can stop wondering because the answer is yes. In the press release Bungie studio head Harold Ryan says “Under the terms of the agreement, Activision will have exclusive, worldwide rights to publish and distribute all future Bungie games based on the new intellectual property on multiple platforms and devices.” The studio will remain independent and keep all the rights to their IP. Hopefully we wont see an Infinity Wardesque situation in a few years. You can read the full story and see the full press release at Bungie’s site.
