Kid Icarus: Uprising Is Easy On The Eyes

One concern that Masahiro Sakurai, producer of Kid Icarus: Uprising, has about 3DS gaming is that it may cause eye strain. This is due to the nature of the eye and its instinct to focus on incoming objects. While this evolutionary adaptation helps protect our eyeballs from potential eye shrapnel, it could possibly lead to some overworked eye muscles if done too much.

To combat this, Sakurai has designed Kid Icarus: Uprising to focus most of its action in a direction that will be perceived as away from the player. I wonder how many cross-eyed beta testers there are stumbling around Nintendo’s headquarters.

On a side note, Sakurai told Joystiq that he will take advantage of the 3DS and present projectiles in arced paths, something impossible to do with  Grandpa’s 2D games. This will help the game add to the feeling of depth the player will experience. Leave it to Nintendo to make 3D more 3D-ific.
