Ubisoft’s Outland Gets Previewed

Earlier this week, we told you about a mysterious game titled Outland that Ubisoft would be unveiling this weekend at PAX. As of this morning, all we knew was that Outland would be coming to PSN and XBLA. Well, IGN has gotten a preview of the game and the details have us excited to see more this weekend. Outland will be a side scrolling 2D platformer that has been described as a “cross between retro platformers like Prince of Persia or Out of This World and the color-switching of shoot ‘em up Ikaruga.”

With that mix of gameplay styles, we can look forward to a lot of puzzle solving, exploration, and action all while shifting between light and dark forms as situations arise. Judging from the few screenshots available, it looks like boss battles will be a big feature of the gameplay as well. Now we can only wonder if Ubisoft plans to use the dark/light color shift mechanic in their upcoming Michael Jackson dancing game.
