Xenoblade Chronicles Hitting the US
Posted in News by Alex Sanberg (Fri, Dec 2, 2011)
For those of you who are unaware, Xenoblade Chronicles is a game that was stirring up some buzz because it wasn’t coming to US retailers. It was actually one of three games that were part of an online movement that gained some recognition. Well, it seems as though, for once, online petitions actually did the trick because Nintendo announced today that they will be bringing Xenoblade Chronicles to the US.
According to the the press release, you will only be able to get the game through Gamestop or Nintendo.com, and it will cost you $50. The release date for Xenoblade Chronicles was just given as April 2012, and Gamestop has it listed as April 2nd, so lets just go with that. So, at least Operation Rainfall got one out of the three games they requested. Let’s hope this appeases them for awhile.

CommentNeverdead Gets a Release Date
Posted in News by Alex Sanberg (Thu, Dec 1, 2011)
It seems like lately we’ve been getting a lot of games that have been hit with delays. It happened to Twisted Metal, Silent Hill: Downpour, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution, just to name a few in recent memory. So it feels like a very rare treat when we get word that a game is coming earlier than expected, as is the case with Neverdead. Originally slated for a February release, the game about a character who cannot die, has received a release date of January 31st, 2012. Granted, that’s only one day before February, but it’s still early. We’ll take what we can get.
[RUMOR] The Future for Dead Space and Dragon Age
Posted in News by Alex Sanberg (Wed, Nov 30, 2011)
Insiders at EA can’t seem to keep their mouths shut. Details regarding two of the company’s larger franchises, Dead Space and Dragon Age, have come out. Let’s start with the Dead Space rumors, shall we? EA is looking to expand the series into different genres. They want an FPS (which we got a taste of with Dead Space: Extraction), a flight simulator game, and an Uncharted-esque action/adventure game. Thankfully, Dead Space 3, which was further confirmed to take place on an ice planet, is still on the table even though new management almost killed its production. Which, if any, of these new ideas, seem like a viable option for the series?
As for Dragon Age, EA is talking about bringing multiplayer to the mix. It is unclear whether or not this will be part of Dragon Age 3 or if it will be a downloadable game. What we do know is that it will run on DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine and will feature arena-type battles with PvE and PvP combat. Oh, you can fight dragons also, which is probably the biggest headache in the series. Maybe they should focus on creating a better single-player experience before they try to tackle multiplayer. What are your thought on this?
CommentSkyrim Map App Coming to iOS
Posted in News by Alex Sanberg (Wed, Nov 30, 2011)
One of the things Skyrim is well known for is its vast map that that makes it almost impossible to explore every nook and cranny. Well, there’s an app for that. Coming soon to your iOS device of choice is the free Dragon Shout app. It is basically an interactive map that allows you to set up customizable markers for things like alchemy components, places to avoid, or spots where you left some gear that was too heavy to carry.
In the future, they plan on adding a social element to the map. That way you can share markers, have chats with other adventurers, or even share some pictures. The app is currently under review and should be available within the next few days. Now if only there was an app to help us deal with those pesky giants.

CommentSony’s Talks PlayStation 4 Release Window
Posted in News by Alex Sanberg (Mon, Nov 28, 2011)
While this generation of consoles has offered a lot to us, we know that it can’t last forever. Nintendo is working on the Wii U, and there are plenty of rumors going around that Microsoft plans on revealing their next Xbox in 2012. There is also talk of next gen games with a 2013 release window. Since the PlayStation 3′s major competitors are looking to the future, Sony knows that they have to step up to the plate as well. PlayStation Europe boss Jim Ryan says, “I think we would consider it undesirable to be significantly later than the competition [with the next PlayStation].”
Since Sony has been rather quiet in regard to a future home console, many people think that they are falling behind. This speculation is given more strength when we hear that the company thinks there is still a lot of life to squeeze out of the PlayStation 3, citing the popularity the PlayStation 2 had toward the end of its life cycle. However, there have been reports of a first-party Sony developer ceasing to develop PS3 games and starting to focus on PS4 titles. Of course all this information only leads to further speculation, and we can’t know anything for sure until Sony says something. While Ryan’s statement does let us know they don’t plan on getting a late start again, it doesn’t give any sort of definite timeframe of when to expect the new machine. The question is: When will they officially announce their next generation of consoles?

If you’re in the market for a new fight stick this holiday season, or just want to pretend you have an arcade in your living room, look no further. Capcom and Hori have announced an official US release date for their upcoming Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 arcade stick.
On December 8th, the aforementioned behemoth of a joystick will be available for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 in two renditions (white buttons or colored buttons) and can be purchased directly from the Hori store. Each will set you back $149.99, a fairly standard price tag for fight sticks these days.
Dimensions are as follows:
- 16:9 inches long
- 9.4 inches wide
- 4.9 inches tall (including stick lever)
- 4.9lbs
- 9.8ft cable
So there you have it. Yet another solid looking fight stick in what is an ever increasing market. I’m perfectly happy with my MadCatz stick, but I can’t say I won’t be a little jealous when I see one of these bad boys in action. How about you?

CommentOver 1600 MW3 Players Banned
Posted in News by Matt Luker (Tue, Nov 22, 2011)
In the epic struggle for shooty-man dominance, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has banned over 1600 cheaters. This taking place in the wake of Battlefield 3 banning “hundreds” of players last week. Both Infinity Ward and DICE have proclaimed a zero tolerance policy for cheating, but Modern Warfare 3 takes the cake again on this one. And if there’s any correlation at all between the number of cheaters playing, and the number of copies sold, then we are in for a world of ‘invincible under the map dude’ induced pain.

CommentNew Xbox 360 Dashboard Coming December 6th
Posted in News by Alex Sanberg (Tue, Nov 22, 2011)
A few lucky individuals are a little bit ahead of the curve and are currently enrolled in the preview program for the new Xbox 360 Dashboard. That’s all fun and good for them, but what about the rest of the public? According to Major Nelson, all Xbox Live members will have access to the new Dashboard on December 6th. What new features are being implemented with this free update? I’m glad you asked.
- New personal and social features including Cloud Storage for Game Saves and LIVE Profile
- Beacons and Facebook Sharing
- Enhanced Family Settings
- Integrated voice and gesture controls across the dashboard and in apps
- Bing voice search (Available this year in the US, UK and CA)
In addition to this, Microsoft will continuously add some more content, primarily for all your entertainment needs. There will be new apps for television, music, sports, movies, and internet videos. Who wouldn’t want to see Charlie bite fingers on his or her Xbox 360?
