Uh oh! After their motion controller got name checked as the Arc a few times in the last couple of months Sony have filed for the trademark Playstation Arc over in Japan. Looks like maybe we will get an official announcement soon as Sony is expected to show off their motion controller during a panel at GDC. So stay tuned for the thrilling conclusion!

According to David Cage the mastermind behind Heavy Rain, the game was originally intended to make use of Sony’s motion controller coming this Fall. Well, it’s curious that the motion controller was originally intended for this Spring which is about the same time the game is coming out. Cage told MTV Multiplayer last week “I have a lot of interest in Sony’s motion device and there is a good chance that we announce something about it in the coming weeks,”. Could the code for motion controller use still be in the game? Could it be compatible when the controllers are released this Fall? Looks like we’ll have to wait a few weeks to find out the answer, but I could see myself playing the game multiple times with both control schemes.

Just yesterday we reported that the word on the street is that Sony’s motion controller will be called Arc. Yesterday we also thought it was still due this Spring. Sony today says “nay” Arc, or Sphere, or Motion Controller or whatever it’s going to be called is now due this Fall, worldwide. Sony says this gives them more time to work with developers and publishers on exciting software for the motion controller. So prepare yourself, this Fall it’s going to be a motion control smackdown!

The good kids over at VG247 are reporting that according to an annonymous source, Sony’s motion controller will be called Arc when it finally hits retail. The controller is due out this Spring in Japan, no firm details on the rest of the world. Arc? Hmmmm…..not sure how I feel about Arc, but we have comments now! How do YOU feel about the name Arc?
