[RUMOR] More Talk About Next Gen Xbox at E3 2012

The rumors of the next generation of the Xbox keep coming. This time the info comes from BGR, who are also saying that Microsoft plans to unveil their next console at E3 2012. Their sources even say that it has been in development for the past five years.

This marks the third time rumors regarding the next Xbox have surfaced within a two month span. In regards to the previous rumors, both EA and Crytek have denied having any sort of dev kit for whatever Microsoft is planning. You can probably expect other such denials until E3 2012, provided this rumor turns out to be factual.

Until then, take the rumors with a grain of salt, and wait for more solid evidence so that you don’t get your hopes up. That being said, what is your take on all the next gen Xbox rumors floating around?

[E3 2011] Tomb Raider Launching In Fall 2012

In a demonstration during Microsoft’s E3 conference, Crystal Dynamics showed off the newest Tomb Raider game. The game, which is taking Tomb Raider in a new direction, will launch in the Fall of 2012. In addition, we saw some gameplay footage where Lara was taken captive and had to escape. Along the way, she can use a new Detective Mode-like vision to help her see what objects in the world will help her survive. We also saw quite a few quick-time events that had Lara fighting off her captors through the demo, and it will be interesting to see how much that is strewn through the entire game. Look for more coverage on Tomb Raider as E3 continues.

What Is ‘Aliens Infestation’?

Oh Australia, you just can’t keep your mouth shut. A game called Aliens: Infestation was classified yesterday (or maybe it was two days ago – time zones confuse me) by the Australian Government and, as of right now, we don’t know anything about it. As Joystiq has pointed out, Way Forward (the studio responsible for the title) was working on a DS companion title to Aliens: Colonial Marines, but because the classification doesn’t include platform, we don’t know if that is what Aliens: Infestation is.

As with most of the things outed by the Australian Classification Board, I imagine we will hear more about this title at E3 in two weeks.

Ubisoft’s E3 Lineup Looks Familiar But Strong

Not wanting to be left out on all of the pre-E3 hullabaloo, Ubisoft has given us a concise overview of what dishes they’re bringing to the expo dinner table. It smells like they’re cooking up a bunch of known favorites, sticking to tried and tested recipes (as well as some leftovers from last year). Having said that, Ubisoft is excited about their upcoming 25th anniversary and wanted to bring us their “strongest and most diverse portfolio to date.”

Ubisoft is referring to their blockbuster titles for E3 as the “High Definition” lineup. These titles include Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Call of Juarez: The Cartel, Driver San Francisco, Rayman Origins and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Future Soldier. A lot of us are curious to see how the rumored Kinect integration with Ghost Recon will pan out. We’ve been waiting on some of these titles for quite some time, so we’re hoping to see some near-finished products at the press conference.

The big U (that’s what we in the biz call Ubisoft) is also eager to get involved in the online gaming space and show off From Dust, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online, and TrackMania² Canyon.

Lest we forget Ubisoft’s successful foray into casual gaming, we’ve been reminded that The Adventures of Tintin, MotionSports Adrenaline, Rocksmith, Raving Rabbids, Just Dance, and Your Shape were all going to be on display at E3.

Australia Outs Microsoft Titles [Oops]

The Australian ratings board has rated some new games being published by Microsoft. Up first is Kinect Googly Eyes which, wow, I hope that is not a full game. Hopefully this is a free download that makes people have googly eyes when they walk in front of the Kinect because I cannot imagine what else this could be. Crimson Alliance will be a new game from Certain Affinity who are best known for making some of the best maps for games like Left 4 Dead, Halo 2, and Halo: Reach. My guess on this one? A multiplayer-only game for Xbox Live Arcade.

Also rated was Fusion: Genesis, which sounds like it could be a Kinect title. I don’t know why I think that, but I do. Kinect Me and Kinect Fruit Ninja were also rated. As well as Hole in the Wall which is supposed to be the Kinect game that makes you contort your body to fit into shapes in a wall that comes at you. Finally, Tetris Party Challenge was rated, but I mean, we know that is.

Want to see these games in action? You’re probably not going to have to wait long as they will most likely be revealed in less than two weeks at Microsoft’s E3 press event.

Nintendo Streaming Their E3 Press Conference

Do you like Mario, projects named after the Spanish word for coffee, and hiding video streams while at work? If you answered yes to any of those, I think you’ll be interested to hear that Nintendo will be streaming their E3 press conference via their own website on June 7th starting at 9 a.m. Pacific time.

While a lot of us are excited to hear about the new games in development for the Wii and 3DS, Project Cafe is what has most people excited for the big N’s presentation. Last year, the 4PC crew unanimously thought Nintendo stole the show at E3. Do you think Project Cafe and 3DS titles will be enough for Nintendo to retain the 4PC E3 heavyweight belt or do you think Microsoft or Sony have a shot at blowing our minds? Why did you start laughing after I said Sony?

Kinect Fun Lab Showing at E3

E3 is quickly approaching, and you can bet we’ll have a lot of games revealed to us during that glorious week. Microsoft is expected to show off some “hardcore” Kinect games, but you can’t expect them to triple their library by the end of the year by strictly releasing games for hardcore players. There’s still going to be those happy-go-lucky, family-friendly titles that are full of sunshine and rainbow farts. One such game that’s rumored to show up during E3 is called Kinect Fun Lab, but that title may change. Really, nothing outside of the pending name is known about it, although Siliconera wonders if this is the same thing as Kinect Me, which showed up in the Australian Classifications Boards. Whatever the case may be, it will be interesting to see what Kinect games Microsoft will have to show at E3 this June.

Carmageddon Website Is Counting Down To Something [Blast from the Past]

Checking on Carmageddon.com is not something that is probably on your weekend to-do list. But it appears on someone’s list, and they let Joystiq know that the page is now a countdown.

Arguably the king of the 90′s vehicular mayhem genre, Carmageddon’s light shined very bright for a few years, but then fizzled out after the 3rd game’s release. The IP was picked up by Square Enix Europe (formally Eidos) after they bought developer SCi, but nothing was done with it until, apparently, now. The countdown is set to expire at 9am GMT on June 1st, the Wednesday before E3. What does this all mean?

Oh, probably that we are getting another Carmageddon game.
