Last week EA announced that it had picked up a pair of indie titles for release digitally. Shank was one of those titles, a cartoony, over the top violent, 2D side scroller that looked promising, in pictures. Well now we have a gameplay trailer for the game courtesy of Joystiq. If the moves shown in this trailer are as easy to pull off as they look, this game could be a ton of fun. Don’t take my word for it, watch the trailer.

EA will be releasing two games this year on Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network and PC from indie developers. The first game is the much talked about Ron Gilbert/Hothead Games collab DeathSpank. Ron Gilbert is one of the men responsible for a little game called The Secret of Monkey Island. The game is an action RPG in which you play as DeathSpank who is scouring the globe for an artifact known only as, The Artifact. Players will experience loot collecting, witty dialogue, and lots of fun combat. Sounds like a blast, especially with Gilbert involved.

Shank(pictured above) on the other hand also appears to be humorous yet over the top on violence. Shank is being developed by Canadian developer Klei Entertainment, and is a 2D side scroller that uses graphic novels as inspiration for it’s art style. The game is currently a finalist for “Excellence In Visual Art” at this year’s Independent Game Festival. Kudos to EA for picking up a couple of great looking indie games for release. Hopefully they are both as good as they look.
