Konami is currently running an E3 press event and we got some new info on Metal Gear Solid: Rising. First up the game’s director Shigenobu Matsuyama is running the show. Kojima is not involved in this game at all, and has “passed the torch” to Matsuyama. If you saw the trailer from Monday’s Microsoft conference you know that Raiden ripped a gooey robotic spine(see: picture)out of a Metal Gear and then absorbed it somehow. Matsuyama says that is how story progression takes place. You are going to need to absorb spines. Or their goo, or something.

Worried that there wont be a stealth in the game? Fear not, there are stealth portions, but they do not last nearly as long as they do in traditional Metal Gear Solid games. The designers also stressed how flexible the cutting in the game is, and that you must be very careful what you cut, and how you cut it. They also said to look for more story details in the very near future.

Oh look it’s another PSP-3000 entertainment pack. Just in time for the June 8th release of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker comes this “spirited green” PSP-3000 bundled with the next installment in the Metal Gear Solid series on UMD. You will also get a voucher to download a TBA’d movie, and a voucher to download exclusive items for use in-game. Throw in a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo and wrap it all up in a $199 price tag and there you have it. Another PSP bundle that doesn’t include a PSP go and a game on UMD. Bravo gentleman.

If you don’t think this is an awesome idea, I’m not sure we can be friends. Konami has put up on the Playstation Store for DIGITAL DOWNLOAD the Metal Gear Solid PSP Bundle. It includes Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and Portable Ops Plus as well as the complete motion comic all for $29.99. That’s less than 10 dollars per piece of digital entertainment. Let’s hope more publishers jump on this bandwagon. I for one would appreciate it.

Want proof? See that tank thing? It’s one of a whole slew of tanks that you will fight. They have the ability to talk and sing. Did I mention they were unmanned? Yeah. On top of that Konami today announced Mother Hub which will be where new features in the game are implemented and where the soldiers you earn during the game hang out. Throw in 3v3 battles over local WiFi connections and you got some of the craziest crazy Metal Gear Solid has ever thrown at us. If you think your PSP can handle it, the is due out May 25th.
