If you were looking to do your cooperative monster hunting online, prepare to be disappointed. Capcom has confirmed that their upcoming 3DS title, Monster Hunter 3G, will not support online co-op. As detailed on their support page, the game will still use the internet for downloadable event quests and items. If you want to play cooperatively with others however, you’ll need to do so locally.

As fans of the series are already aware, Capcom has a history of doing this with its portable Monster Hunter games, and I can’t say I get it. Co-op is an almost necessary part of the experience, and it seems rather short sighted to omit it for the mobile versions, especially in the case of the Nintendo 3DS, which promised improved online support as a key feature. So far that hasn’t been the case. We can only hope that this isn’t the shape of things to come, and developers will start taking advantage.

What do you think? Is this a deal breaker, or do you prefer to hunt alone?

Remember last week when we posted the rumor that the God of War PSP titles were coming to the PS3? Then on Bullshot we waxed intellectual (that term is used so lightly it floats) about how they would accomplish this? Well, it seems like Sony was one step ahead of us in that department. Unveiled this weekend, the PSP Remaster line of titles will consist of PSP games that have been “enhanced” for the PS3. This can include, but is not limited to, better graphics, control enhancement, and even THREEEEE DEEEEEEEE. If that doesn’t excite you, this next part will (not joking.) Games will have the option of supporting cross-compatible save files. Play the game on your PS3, transfer the save to your PSP, continue the game on the train ride into work. Gosh, this all sounds awfully familiar.

The first title to be re-released on the PS3 is Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, and you can see footage of it in action over at Kotaku. Only a Japanese release date of “Summer” was provided, but Sony said they would be announcing more titles soon.

Allow me a moment to speculate. The PSP is pretty much a dead system, we can all agree on that. And I can’t imagine this will account for much more than a rounding error (except in Japan) for Sony’s bottom line. But what if this compatibility were to come to something like, say, the NGP?

Now that is something worth getting excited about…

If you’re like me you are eagerly anticipating Capcom’s Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii. Well we have some good news for you if you are in fact, like me. The game will feature some monster hunts post launch over your WiFi connection. These events will be only for limited times and completing them will reward players with rare items. There will be two types of quests, event and arena quests. Events will play very much like the actual game, you will have to be a certain level to access the event, and then you will be tasked with destroying a roving band of monsters. In the gigantic monster quest players will have to attract the attention of a gigantic monster by firing canons at it from a ship. When it gets close players can then begin to attack the monster. Finally in arena quests, you are basically playing horde mode in an arena against ever increasing in difficulty monsters. Some of these will be normal fights and some will be timed. The faster you can take down the monsters the better the rewards. Monster Hunter Tri is in stores April 20th.

The forthcoming PSP Metal Gear game features crossovers with the games Monster Hunter, and Front Mission. Snake is going to fight some of the monsters from Monster Hunter and some of the mech suit things from Front Mission. Kojima says that the Monster Hunter stuff is in there because the game is set in Costa Rica and that’s close to Jurassic Park. I didn’t just make that up, he said that. Also when you defeat a Front Mission robot man it will drop parts. You will be able to take those parts into Front Mission Evolved, which is coming to American stores this Summer for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. There’s no word yet on how you will transfer those parts into the game, but my guess is, it’s only going to work on the PS3 version. So don’t get bummed out when you can’t connect your PSP to your Xbox 360.

Capcom has come clean with the release dates for it’s Spring 2010 lineup. First up is the previously announced to be bundled with a Wii Classic Controller Pro, Monster Hunter Tri. Capcom has that due out in the not so specific time frame of April. Lost Planet 2 the long awaited follow up to Lost Planet will finally be released on May 18th. Then Final Fight: Double Impact will hit Xbox Live and Playstation Network sometime before April 27th, because that’s when Super Street Fighter IV will hit stores. So now you know, as much as we know about what Capcom has up their sleeves for Spring 2010.

Looks like the US is finally getting Nintendo’s Dual Shock 2 Wii Classic Controller Pro and not only that it’s going to be available in a bundle with Monster Hunter 3. The controller alone, available in black or white will set you back $19.99, or pair it up with Monster Hunter for only $59.99. Which sounds like a savings of about $9.99. Capcom says it will be available this April. Which means the game was not pushed back nearly as far as we thought it was.

You can find that over here. The confusing part is that the emails says the game is due for the Wii in Spring of 2010. Yesterday, we heard the game isn’t coming out until 2011. So what gives? We’ll do our best to find out, in the meantime hit up that teaser site.
