For the VGAs, Sony was getting everyone excited about a new IP called The Last of Us by releasing a teaser trailer. What they ended up revealing at the “award show” was a new game by Uncharted developer Naughty Dog that seems to set you in the middle of a post-apocalyptic world that is overrun by zombie-like creatures. The trailer was captured from the in-game engine running on a PS3, and it looked absolutely gorgeous. There is an incredible amount of detail in all the textures and models, and it had some really impressive lighting effects. Overall, it was just stunning to look at.

Unfortunately, the trailer didn’t reveal much about The Last Of Us. They don’t come right out and say it’s zombies in the game, but that’s what we inferred from the trailer. We also don’t know which character you’ll be controlling, or if it will be both characters. However, the creatures may be something completely different with their weird, misshaped heads that get blown off. We don’t even know what type of game it will be. Action? Survival horror? Puzzle? Dating sim?

I, for one, am hoping it is a dating sim. Why? Look at the girl in the trailer and tell me that isn’t Ellen Page. Who wouldn’t want to take Ellen Page out on a date? Anyways, there’s a lot of questions that still need answering about this game. What do you guys think The Last Of Us will bring to the table?

Behold, treasure seekers, a steal of a deal is incoming. The PlayStation Blog has revealed that there will be a ‘Fortune Hunters Club’ (read: season pass) for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. We know it won’t include any single player DLC, but what will you get? Other than avoiding the embarrassment of not being part of the club, the $24.99 subscription will entitle you to the first four multiplayer map packs  and the first three multiplayer skins, with the first DLC coming in November. You’ll also receive the exclusive Fortune Hunters’ Club theme, and an XMB message when what you’ve already paid for is available for download.

Similar to other season passes, the goal is to have consumers purchase all of the DLC in one big pack before it’s released with the incentive of savings. With the Fortune Hunters Club, you will receive a 45% discount off buying it all individually. People may complain, but it’s a great way of doing DLC, especially for those who know they’ll be buying it all anyway.

Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception will be released on the PlayStation 3 on November 1, 2011

According to game director Justin Richmond, “Whenever we sit down and think we should do some single-player DLC, someone pitches something and we realize – that’s a five hour level.” He went on to say their development team is too small to spend time working on episodic DLC content and would just rather get to work on a new game. The lack of single-player DLC shouldn’t come as a surprise considering the first two games didn’t have any single-player downloadable content either. Let’s just hope that means they are already planning out Uncharted 4.

General admission to the event is $25. However, if you opt for the $60 Premium Pass, you will receive a copy of the game before the November 1st release date. A list of the participating theaters is as follows:

So this Uncharted/Subway team-up seems like a pretty sweet deal for everyone… except for Jared who is probably being left out in the cold. Don’t feel bad for him, though. The dude got famous for simply not being fat anymore. Can you think of anyone else who is famous for a reason more pointless than that? Well?

Nolan North, the voice of Nathan Drake, has has worked with the PlayStation Blog to put together a little video showcasing the Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Collector’s Edition. The video is kind of cheesy, but there are a couple of good chuckles that come from watching it. However, I’m sure you don’t care about the video. What you really want to know is what said collector’s edition includes. Well, you should already know this, but just in case you don’t, click the title to keep reading.

First off, the whole kit ‘n caboodle comes inside a very classy looking mini traveler’s chest that has exclusive artwork on the exterior, a door that is held shut by a magnet,  and has storage areas in side that are lined with velvet. You better believe those velvet lined storage areas have more goodies in them. One has a full-sized replica of Sir Francis Drake’s ring that Nathan wears around his neck, complete with the inscription that reads “Sic Parvis Magna.” For those of you who don’t know Latin, it means “Greatness From Small Beginnings.” There is also a replica of Nathan Drake’s belt buckle from the third game. Additionally, there is a high-quality 8.5″ statue of Nathan Drake himself looking all awesome and such. Finally, there is, of course, the game. That game just so happens to come packaged inside a Steelbook case with exclusive artwork on the outside and the inside.

You can get all of this for the small fortune of $100. Supplies are very limited, so if you really want one you should pre-order it soon. I wouldn’t try to wait to see if there are any just lying around when the game is released on November 1st.

Now that Comic-Con 2011 is officially in the books, we can take some time to look back at what we missed. The nice people over at the PlayStation Blog have put together the above video to help us do just that. Cut together from the Uncharted panel, titled “Developing Interactive Entertainment: The Performance Capture Techniques of the Uncharted Franchise and Today’s Film Industry,” (seriously, the title was that long) the panel discussed the way they approach the creation and capturing of the story in Uncharted. The panel wasn’t just a list of nobody’s either. It featured Amy Hennig, Taylor Kurosaki, and Josh Scherr of Naughty Dog, along with voice actors Nolan North, Emily Rose, and Richard McGonagle.

Don’t expect any unknown nuggets about Uncharted 3 though, as the video is more about the creative process in video games and they way they work at Naughty Dog. If you’re a fan of the franchise, or just interested in how they go about creating, the video is worth a watch. As a fan, it’s fun to see the actors genuinely enjoying themselves and the creators having a real passion for their product.
