Expectations for Deus Ex: Human Revolution were low, but the solid production value and gameplay took many of us by surprise. One of the facets of the game that seemed to stick out to many was the game’s soundtrack, which is full of the futuristic ambient muscial stylings of Michael McCann. That soundtrack will be available on November 15th for you to listen to while you stealthily wait for the bus. Seriously, everyone can see you behind the bush. Crouching does little for stealth in broad daylight…and for God’s sake, stop crawling around in the vents with your Dr. Dre Beats headphones on full blast. We can all hear you, we know what you’re doing, and your little fantasy role-playing is creeping some of us out. Anyways, if you want a sample of what to expect, check out the YouTube clip above.

The new Hitman Absolution gameplay video from Machinima shows Agent 47 trying to get out of an old Chicago library with the cops hot on his heels. You’ll see that 47 is very mindful of library etiquette for a while, but when the situation degrades, all library rules go out the window. The video gives us a good mix of stealth and action and it appears that there are multiple ways to deal with situations, although there is a clear “suggested path” through this part of the game. It looks like going with some higher profile behind the scenes talent is working in their favor as the game animations appear very fluid. Hitman Absolution is due out in 2012 for the 360, PS3, and PC.

They are also considering having 3DS integration to bring character transfers into the mix.

It is unclear at the moment if Dragon Quest X is going to be an MMO style game or if you are just going to party up with other players in your own little world, like Borderlands. It has a similar look to that of Dragon Quest VIII and features multiple classes. The characters that were shown vary from ogre, elves, and dwarves, and they were seen running around a world map while running across the staple enemies from the series.

Does this actually make you want to play an online game for the Wii, or do you think you’ll pass?

Square’s notable RPG was a little series you may have heard of called Final Fantasy, while Enix was known for their Dragon Quest series. Both of the series have lived on after the companies merged, and next week, we are going to see the latter’s next installment.

Square Enix is going to use their Ustream channel to reveal the latest Dragon Quest game at 2 P.M. Japanese time. It’s possible that they are going to reveal Dragon Quest X for the Wii, which was announced in 2008, but nothing is certain at this point. It would make sense though, considering a trailer for Dragon Quest X is going to be included with the Dragon Quest Anniversary Collection which is being released in Japan on September 15th. However, do you think they’ll surprise us with something else?

It turns out that Square Enix decided to pack in a redemption code for a free digital OnLive copy of the game as well. Square Enix is the first publisher to do something like this, so hopefully we’ll see more companies follow suit.

What? You didn’t get an OnLive code with your PC version of Deus Ex? Let me guess: You bought your copy at your local GameStop. How did I know that? Well, reports are circulating that a memo went out to GameStop employees telling them to open the PC copies of the game and remove the code. When asked to comment, GameStop public relations representative Beth Sharum said, “Square Enix packed the competitor’s coupon with our DXHR product without our prior knowledge, and we did pull and discard these coupons.”

Do you think GameStop had any right to do this, or did they just end up looking like a bunch of jerks?

Guess what! We’re going to get Fortune Street for the Wii in North America! Oh, you don’t know what that is? Well then, allow me to explain. It’s a crossover, virtual board game that features characters and such from the Mario and Dragon Quest universes. It’s been a popular series in Japan since 1991 and goes by the name Itadaki Street over there.

The game in kind of like Monopoly, where you buy places and charge people for staying there. You gain more money by strategically placing what you own and manipulating the “stock market.” There are different boards with separate themes, like a Bowser board with card suits in the corners. Landing on a suit would allow you to draw a card from a deck that will grant you a bonus, such as buy any space on the board or get more money from your businesses.

Fourtune Street will finally be hitting America this Holiday season. It only took them twenty years.

Despite Microsoft, Sony, Ubisoft, and EA all holding press conferences and announcing gobs of stuff yesterday, Square Enix decided to get into the mix and give us some info on their flagship RPG, Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy XIII-2, a true sequel to FFXIII, got a new trailer that shows some actual gameplay. The gameplay, as predicted, looks identical to the “Paradigm” system of XIII, so at least fans of the series will know what they’re getting into. If you live in Japan, you can pick up your copy this December while those of us in the West will have to wait until early 2012. Early 2012 is sooner than we were originally told, so if that still isn’t soon enough for you, I suggest you start learning Japanese. In the mean time, you can check out the official website, which has finally gone live.

In a demonstration during Microsoft’s E3 conference, Crystal Dynamics showed off the newest Tomb Raider game. The game, which is taking Tomb Raider in a new direction, will launch in the Fall of 2012. In addition, we saw some gameplay footage where Lara was taken captive and had to escape. Along the way, she can use a new Detective Mode-like vision to help her see what objects in the world will help her survive. We also saw quite a few quick-time events that had Lara fighting off her captors through the demo, and it will be interesting to see how much that is strewn through the entire game. Look for more coverage on Tomb Raider as E3 continues.
