Xenoblade Chronicles Hitting the US

For those of you who are unaware, Xenoblade Chronicles is a game that was stirring up some buzz because it wasn’t coming to US retailers. It was actually one of three games that were part of an online movement that gained some recognition. Well, it seems as though, for once, online petitions actually did the trick because Nintendo announced today that they will be bringing Xenoblade Chronicles to the US.

According to the the press release, you will only be able to get the game through Gamestop or Nintendo.com, and it will cost you $50. The release date for Xenoblade Chronicles was just given as April 2012, and Gamestop has it listed as April 2nd, so lets just go with that. So, at least Operation Rainfall got one out of the three games they requested. Let’s hope this appeases them for awhile.

Hulu Plus Coming to Wii and 3DS

This morning at the Nintendo press conference, it was announced that the subscription TV streaming service Hulu Plus would be arriving on the Wii and 3DS. It has been confirmed that in order to use Hulu Plus, you will in fact have to turn on your Wii, and will surely be inadequate without a second analog stick.

Kidding aside, Hulu will be available for $7.99/month and will feature “thousands of TV episodes” including the current seasons of “Modern Family, Glee, The Biggest Loser, House, and Greys Anatomy.” So let’s cut some cables and smash some TV boxes, and then I’m sure we can find some sort of DIY show on Hulu to fix it.

Nintendo Will Have Strong Showing at New York Comic Con

Get your utility belts and spidey shooters ready. It’s New York Comic Con time, and Nintendo’s coming out firing on all cylinders. Taking place from October 13-16, Nintendo will hold several events, including an interactive Pokemon Gaming Lounge(!!!), an exclusive screening of Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva which includes sure to be terrifying costumed characters, trivia contests and a chance to play the soon to be released Professor Layton and the Last Spectre. Most exciting, though, is that many games will be playable at the Nintendo booth. Hit the title to see them all:

I know I’m personally excited for the Professor Layton game, but what is really important to keep an eye on is the 3DS. Up until now the concern was the lack of games and support. Well here it is. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how the gaming community reacts to these games.

Dragon Quest X Takes the Adventure Online

As promised, Square Enix revealed their new game via Ustream, and as expected, it was Dragon Quest X. The game is going to be an online RPG for the Wii, because when I think of online gaming, I think of the Wii. However, there is also a version being developed for the Wii U that has improved graphics and allows Wii U players to play with Wii players. They are also considering having 3DS integration to bring character transfers into the mix.

It is unclear at the moment if Dragon Quest X is going to be an MMO style game or if you are just going to party up with other players in your own little world, like Borderlands. It has a similar look to that of Dragon Quest VIII and features multiple classes. The characters that were shown vary from ogre, elves, and dwarves, and they were seen running around a world map while running across the staple enemies from the series.

Does this actually make you want to play an online game for the Wii, or do you think you’ll pass?

New Dragon Quest Game Revealed Next Week

Back before there was Square Enix, there was Square and Enix. Square’s notable RPG was a little series you may have heard of called Final Fantasy, while Enix was known for their Dragon Quest series. Both of the series have lived on after the companies merged, and next week, we are going to see the latter’s next installment.

Square Enix is going to use their Ustream channel to reveal the latest Dragon Quest game at 2 P.M. Japanese time. It’s possible that they are going to reveal Dragon Quest X for the Wii, which was announced in 2008, but nothing is certain at this point. It would make sense though, considering a trailer for Dragon Quest X is going to be included with the Dragon Quest Anniversary Collection which is being released in Japan on September 15th. However, do you think they’ll surprise us with something else?

Zelda: Skyward Sword Gold Wiimote Bundle

During E3, Nintendo had a lot of announcements in regards to the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. One of the things that they mentioned was a gold Wii Remote Plus and have since not said anything about it… until now. To get this golden piece of hardware, you will have to get the $70 The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword bundle. Additionally both the initial runs of the regularly priced $50 version of the game and the bundle will include a CD with music from the Zelda 25th anniversary concert.

So, if you’re a fan of the series, it will probably be hard for you to pass up this opportunity when the game comes out on November 20th.

[RUMOR] Epic Mickey 2 May (Probably) Be in Development

Hurricane Irene has spent the last few days tearing through the Northeast, leaving people homeless, and causing destruction everywhere it touches. In other tragic news, it looks like Epic Mickey 2 could be in development. A recent survey asks voters to choose which box art would make them most likely to purchase the game. There are also several titles being pitched, including: Epic Mickey 2: Return of the Mad Doctor, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, Epic Mickey 2: Mystery on Mean Street, and just Epic Mickey 2

The survey is also filled with some other juicy details including a 2-player mode where one player can play as Mickey with his paint and thinner, or his older brother Oswald the Lucky Rabbit who can “fly like a helicopter and use electricity to fight or friend enemies and solve challenges.”

Epic Mickey 2 is being planned for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii.

Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Coming October 24th

Fall tends to be a busy time for videogame enthusiasts. A lot of popular games tend to come out around that time, what with Christmas being just around the corner. Many of the major titles that are being released during that time are for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, but Nintendo is making sure they don’t get left in the dust.

They recently announced the Fall release date for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and now we have learned Kirby‘s Return to Dreamland‘s exact release date. Everyone favorite puffball will be coming out October 24th for the Wii. This game will most likely sell amongst the diehard Nintendo fans, but do you think it will get any attention from people who are excited for games like Battlefield 3 or Skyrim?

New Wii Hardware Drops Gamecube Support

The hardest decision UK Wii owners are having to make just became easier. Nintendo has unveiled their new redesign of the Wii for this Christmas. The new design allows the system to sit more naturally horizontally rather than vertically, so breathe a sigh of relief fellow gamers.

One other rather important change to the console is that backwards compatibility with the GameCube is no more, along with the Gamecube controller functionality. This new Wii will be available in the Wii Party and Wii Sports bundles just in time for the holiday season.

How long until we see this update on the US shores?

Zelda: Skyward Sword Coming November 20th

During this year’s E3 , Nintendo made a big to-do about the 25th anniversary of the popular Legend of Zelda series. Part of that announcement was that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword would come out sometime during the “Holiday” time frame. They have finally narrowed down that time frame to an exact date. November 20th marks the date for our legendary hero, Link, going on yet another adventure, but this time, he will have Wii Motion Plus by his side. Nintendo hasn’t announced any specifics to include a Wii Motion Plus controller or adapter, but they did mention releasing a gold Wiimote during E3. Hopefully we’ll hear more on that soon.
