So Monolith has decided to give the rest of the public a little treat with an animated short. It’s starts out with two average Joes exchanging pleasantries as they walk into their separate apartments. They then dress up as a Batman and Joker impostor (hence the name) and try to brutally kill each other. It’s a heart-warming tale about friendship. Watch it for yourself and tell us what you think.

When Valve released the Source Engine, the game remained just as popular on the updated engine. Now, Valve, along with Hidden Path Entertainment, has announced that they plan to keep the game’s success going with Counter Strike: Global Offensive.

With a planned release window of early 2012, Counter Strike: Global Offensive will be available on Xbox Live Arcade, PSN, and Steam for PC and Mac. The new installment of the series will feature updated versions of some fan-favorite maps (like de_dust) as well as new maps, characters, and weapons. Counter Strike: Global Offensive promises to offer many other new things, such as game modes, leader boards, and matchmaking. The question is how soon until the hardcore Counter Strike players to stop complaining about the new version and go back to the original one? The answer: not soon enough.

Double Fine’s Tim Schafer took the stage at Microsoft’s E3 press event to show off their Kinect enabled Sesame Street game. As previously detailed the game looks like a story book with each level being a page in the book. A mock father and son played the game together with the son using his arms to flip the pages and then enter them to start the levels. One level saw the players using their hands to catch bugs, while another had them jumping up and down to impress a monster.

No release date was given, but honestly this was the best use of Kinect I saw all day. This could be a “monster” title for families that want to game together or to entertain young children.

EA Sports has announced that they are working on NBA Jam: On Fire Edition for the Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. This digital download version of the classic basketball video game will feature some enhancements, such a Real AI, which studies the way you play and tries to use it against you. Jam Arena allows you and a friend to play people across the globe in online competitions, and Road Trip is a cooperative gameplay mode where you and a friend take on legendary players from each of the 30 NBA teams.

NBA Jam: On Fire Edition will feature online roster updates with more NBA stars and legends, challenges, unlockable players, and secret teams. It is also bringing back Tag Mode and Team Fire, so you can instantly swap characters to perform consecutive cooperatives moves that will ignite the whole team. The press release also mentions that the next NBA simulation game will come out in 2012, which pretty much means we won’t see an NBA Elite ’12. Hopefully the one intended for 2012 won’t meet the same fate as its predecessor.

NBA Jam: On Fire Edition is scheduled for an October release.

The multiplayer was loved by a minority of mostly PC diehards so TimeGate Studios decided that for the sequel they would just make it multiplayer only and download only. Can you believe it? You wont even have to leave your house to buy games that you probably already have in your house! The screenshot above shows the upgraded visuals.
Tribes: Ascend is going to be a downloadable Unreal Engine 3 powered iteration of the storied PC FPS franchise. It’s been a while since we’ve seen a Tribes game, although some would argue that Halo: Reach’s jetpacks were heavily inspired by the Tribes games. The game is due out sometime this year and is being developed by Hi-Rez Studios. Tribes: Ascend is a prelude to a full fledged Tribes title called Tribes Universe. No release date has been announced for Universe.

Give him a gun. James Silva of Ska Studios has revealed that April 6th will finally be the release date for The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile, the sequel to his beat ‘em up The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai. It will be available on the Xbox Live Arcade for 800 MS Points ($10 in real people money) and will be complete with 3D functionality. If you are attending PAX East, you’ll be able to try out the final product and, if you’re lucky, get a preliminary download code.

My next question is how do you turn a dishwasher into a snow plow? I’ll let you Google that answer.
